GP Synergy is the NSW/ACT provider of training for doctors specialising as General Practitioners (GPs). We are federally funded by the Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) program to provide education and training opportunities to these doctors. We have a diverse and comprehensive education program that supports GP registrars during their placements at accredited general practices. We also provide resources and services for training practices, their GP supervisors, practice managers and staff.
Working collaboratively with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHSs) is a key action for GP Synergy, we were the first GP regional training organisation to establish an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Education Unit.
GP Synergy’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Education Unit team provides operational support in implementing the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Strategic Plan, including:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health training days that support GP registrars to understand the complexities and opportunities that working in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health offers
- supporting ACCHSs in becoming accredited or re-accredited as GP training practices
- developing processes, resources and activities to support GP registrar training within ACCHSs, that in turn supports the services and their communities.
