GP Synergy is committed to encouraging and supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health professionals as an important step towards closing the gap in the health disparity experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Supporting Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) staff to achieve formal qualifications in Practice Management is part of that commitment.
The Diploma of Practice Management for Aboriginal Medical Services (AMSs), is a nationally recognised qualification offered as a customised training program for ACCHS staff within the GP Synergy NSW/ACT network.
The diploma is delivered by Open Training and Education Network (OTEN), Western Sydney Institute TAFE NSW, in partnership with GP Synergy.
This customised training program has been developed to meet the needs of health care workers in AMSs in areas of Practice Management. AMS staff who might consider undertaking the diploma will generally be involved in managing the operations and promotion of professional practices, and GP training program.
Eighteen ACCHS staff graduated with the Diploma of Practice Management in the 2018 cohort, bringing the total number of graduates to 72.
