Aboriginal Cultural Education Unit team members regularly visit Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHs) to discuss aspects of GP training in Aboriginal health. After putting site visits on hold for 2020 we’re pleased to be meeting with ACCHSs face-to-face again.
Gwen Troutman-Weir and Walter Dorrington visited the Griffith Aboriginal Medical Service and met with staff, GP registrar and GP supervisor, including CEO Stacey O’Hara and Practice Manager Lisa Penrith. Pictured above left to right are Walter, Lisa, Gwen and Stacey.
The trip also included a visit to RivMed (Riverina Medical and Dental Aboriginal Corporation) in Wagga Wagga. Pictured right (left to right) Gwen, former registrar and now Fellowed GP Dr Ezekiel Raju, and Georgina O’Neil RivMed Mental Health Team Leader and Cultural Mentor.
Walter is currently on secondment as Cultural Educator – North Coast and New England, during that time Gwen is Cultural Educator for both our Murrumbidgee & ACT and Western NSW subregions.
